Emergency SOS via satellite: Apple offers an extra year to iPhone 14 owners

Good news for iPhone 14 owners, who will be able to take advantage of the satellite SOS function for longer without having to spend money. They are already entitled to 2 years free with their purchase, and Apple has just announced that it will extend this trial period for an additional year.
While Apple’s press release is a little obscure in its wording, iPhone VP of Marketing Kaiann Drance confirmed in a video that an additional year would be offered on top of the two years included with the phone. To take advantage of the offer, you must have activated your iPhone in a supported country before today, namely November 15, 2023. The function has been available in France since last December.
This gift has the effect of pushing back the deadline for the first buyers of iPhone 14: we will therefore have to wait at least two more years before knowing the prices of this function, which will eventually become chargeable for people who do not have renewed their iPhone for some time. Apple takes advantage of its press release to remind you that it recently added a function allowing you to call the tow truck in the event of a problem in an area without a network. The novelty is currently reserved for American territory.
