Elon Musk: X to file ‘thermonuclear’ lawsuit over anti-Semitism allegations

X Corp, formerly known as Twitter, will take legal action against Media Matters and those who attacked social media platform Americans have suspended their advertising on the site.
“The court opens in a split second on Monday, X Corp will file a thermonuclear lawsuit against Media Matters and everyone who collaborated in this fraudulent attack on our company,” Musk wrote in a post on X, without name other parts.
Liberal media watchdog group Media Matters for America said earlier this week it found that corporate ads from IBM, Apple, Oracle and Comcast’s Xfinity were placed next to anti-Semitic content.
IBM said Thursday it had immediately suspended all advertising on Musk-owned X after the watchdog found its ads were placed alongside content promoting Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party.
Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery and Comcast, Lions Gate Entertainment and Paramount Global announced Friday that they were also suspending their ads on X. Axios reported that Apple would do the same.
Musk on Wednesday approved an anti-Semitic post on X falsely claiming that members of the Jewish community were fanning hatred against white people.
“This week, Media Matters for America published an article that completely misrepresents the real experience on X, in yet another attempt to undermine free speech and mislead advertisers,” Musk said in a communicated.
“Media Matters created an alternative account and organized posts and advertisements appearing on the account’s timeline in order to misinform advertisers about the location of their posts.”
Media Matters did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment outside of business hours.
Increase in hate speech
Advertisers have fled the site since Musk bought it in October 2022 and reduced content moderation, leading to a sharp increase in hate speech on X, according to civil rights groups.
