Elon Musk says he buys Twitter to allow “healthy” debates on the internet – RT in French

Billionaire Elon Musk, who is said to be finalizing the acquisition of Twitter, says he is buying the social network so that civilization benefits from an “online public square where a wide variety of opinions can debate in a healthy way”.
Elon Musk said on October 27 that he was buying the social network Twitter because it is “important for the future of civilization to have a public place online where a wide variety of opinions can debate in a healthy way, without resorting to violence”. “That said, Twitter obviously cannot be a hellish place open to everyone, where anything can be said without consequence,” he also noted in a message to advertisers.
The wealthy businessman has not yet officially finalized the acquisition of Twitter, but several signals show that the operation is underway. The entrepreneur notably went to the headquarters of the social network on October 26 and renamed himself “Chef Twit” on his profile – “twit” meaning “moron” in English.
According to the wall street journal, the banks participating in the financing have also started to send the money. And the New York Stock Exchange, where Twitter is listed, said in a notice that the platform’s stock would be suspended Oct. 28 before the opening of trading.
The judge responsible for settling a dispute between the two parties had given them until October 28 to agree, failing which a trial will take place in November. To advertisers, Elon Musk assures in his message that he did not start the operation because it was “easy” or “to make money”, but to “try to help humanity” .
“In addition to respecting the laws, our platform must be warm and welcoming to all,” he writes. Users must be able to choose their experience “according to their preferences, in the same way that you can for example see films or play video games for all ages”. It is also essential, according to Elon Musk, to show advertisements that correspond as much as possible to the “needs” of Internet users.
