Eagles DE Sweat leaves the game on a stretcher after a tackle

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Josh Sweat suffered a neck injury but has movement in all extremities after being injured trying to make a tackle Sunday against New Orleans.

The Eagles said Sweat was taken to hospital “for precautionary reasons”. Sweat pounded the ground with his hands before being taken off the field on a stretcher in the first quarter.

The entire Eagles team closed in on the sideline and encountered Sweat on the field as he was stretchered. Sweat has 11 sacks and had one sack in five straight games before being injured late in the first quarter.

The Eagles went 13-2 and needed a win to clinch the NFC East and the NFC top seed. But they were without quarterback Jalen Hurts for the second straight week with a sprained right shoulder.
