Drew Barrymore Describes the One Thing She Didn’t Know About ET While Filming

Actor and talk show host Drew Barrymore has looked back on her iconic role in “ET the Extra-Terrestrial” and revealed what she didn’t know about the titular character while filming the classic film.

In a clip from an episode of his talk show to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary, Barrymore weighed in on his deep admiration for ET and discussed his belief that ET was a real extraterrestrial.

The reunion episode, which is set to air Monday, features “ET” cast members Dee Wallace, Henry Thomas and Robert MacNaughton, according to the “Drew Barrymore Show” website. The episode, according to its website, “will share elements they pulled from the set, lines that were adlibbed [and] chances of an “AND” sequence.

In the clip, the talk show host said she suspected “ET” was a real creature and all three cast members agreed that was the case.

“What would happen?” Barrymore asked, adding, “Because I would go bring him lunch.”

Wallace, who plays Mary Taylor in “ET,” said filmmaker Steven Spielberg named two men to “keep ET alive” for a young Barrymore.

“So every time you came to talk to him, he could react with you,” she said.
