According to the ministry, 244,000 victims were recorded by the police, an increase of 15% compared to the previous year. In details, “two thirds of this violence is physical violence, 30% verbal or psychological violence and 5% sexual violence”specifies the report.
In addition, 87% of victims are women, with men most often being blamed (89%). Several departments would be particularly concerned by these figures. We find that of Seine-Saint-Denis, Guyana, Pas-de-Calais, Nord and Réunion where the highest rates were recorded per 1,000 inhabitants aged 15 to 64.
Finally, the report concludes with a final figure. Only “one in four victims of domestic violence reports to the security services the facts she suffered.
