Kershaw, 34, has been hampered by injuries over the past few years. He hasn’t made 30 starts since the 2015 season.

It’s now his 11th career stint in IL, all since 2014, and it’s his second this year. Both stints in IL were due to back injuries.

He also won two perfect games in the eighth inning this year. The first time came on his season debut, but he was pulled after the seventh inning by manager Dave Roberts due to a strict pitch count to guard against injury.

Kershaw was named an All-Star for the ninth time this summer and started the All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium. It was his first starting nod in the Midsummer Classic.
