A milestone that is always significant. Each of the participants has, in fact, chosen an outfit representing, according to them, their country. A well-kept secret by Diane Leyre who remains very mysterious concerning the national costume she will wear during the competition. Last year, Floriane Bascou opted for an outfit inspired by the Caribbean carnival in blue, white and red. Miss Universe 2023: Diane Leyre
A dedication to a very famous singer
A few hours before performing on stage, Diane Leyre has just solved the mystery. The 26-year-old young woman chose to make a dedication to Édith Piaf by wearing a Moulin Rouge outfit revisited on the theme of the song La vie en rose. “I wanted to make a wink that all foreigners could understandshe explains. I love hearing Americans say La vie en rose with their accent, there is a side Emily in Paris which is nice. As for the Moulin Rouge, it is a very well-known entity internationally and I wanted this iconic side. Iris Mittenaere Maëva Coucke had it too. But I wanted something totally different from them. I didn’t want red but a color that suits me: pink! The Moulin Rouge transformed a costume they already had. It’s a slightly bare pink two-piece with feathers on bows in the back. I also have a head port with feathers to resemble the back and huge Swarovski leather thigh-high boots. » This Wednesday, November 15, she released a small teaser on her social networks.
A sign of destiny
This costume, which pays homage to Édith Piaf, makes her particularly proud. She hopes that it will bring her luck and believes in it thanks to a chance wink. “When I arrived in El Salvador, I was interviewed by a local journalist and he told me that the only French music that was known here on the radio was La vie en rose by Edith Piaf! I told myself it was destiny! It was the 60e of the anniversary of his death a few days ago so it resonates even more…”, she confides.
We can bet that Diane Leyre will cause a sensation on stage with her costume, facing Iris Mittenaere who is part of the jury, before the grand final which will take place this Saturday, November 18 and will be broadcast on Paris Première from two a.m. on the night of Saturday to Sunday.
