The first alert is given around 1:30 a.m.
Shortly after 1 a.m., a woman called Samu. She explained to the operators that her son had vomited and was no longer breathing. Emergency services immediately came to the scene, in Saubens, in the south of the Haute-Garonne department.
The child died of cardiorespiratory arrest
When the 3-year-old child was taken into care by the Smur and the firefighters, he was in cardiorespiratory arrest. Despite several resuscitation attempts, the young victim died. During their intervention, the doctors noticed that Samy had bruises on his face and body. He has marks around his neck, likely to have been caused by strangulation.
The role of mother and stepfather in question
Following the death, Samy’s mother, aged 23, was taken into police custody. His companion, aged 20, was also arrested. At this point, there is no indication that they were directly involved in the boy’s death, but their role in this story is murky.
