Samy, a three-year-old boy, died this Thursday morning in Saubens, south of Toulouse. The prosecution immediately opened an investigation for “murder of minors aged 15”. Here’s what we know about this case.
The first alert is given around 1:30 a.m.
Shortly after 1 a.m., a woman called Samu. She explained to the operators that her son had vomited and was no longer breathing. Emergency services immediately came to the scene, in Saubens, in the south of the Haute-Garonne department.
The child died of cardiorespiratory arrest
When the 3-year-old child was taken into care by the Smur and the firefighters, he was in cardiorespiratory arrest. Despite several resuscitation attempts, the young victim died. During their intervention, the doctors noticed that Samy had bruises on his face and body. He has marks around his neck, likely to have been caused by strangulation.
The role of mother and stepfather in question
Following the death, Samy’s mother, aged 23, was taken into police custody. His companion, aged 20, was also arrested. At this point, there is no indication that they were directly involved in the boy’s death, but their role in this story is murky. Many elements are currently being verified by investigators from the Muret research brigade. Interviewed on site, neighbors claimed that the mother regularly shouted at her son but no one witnessed any violence.
An investigation opened into the murder of a 15-year-old minor
When the prosecution learned that the child was injured, they immediately opened an investigation for “homicide of minors aged 15”. Who caused Samy’s injuries? Was he hit on the day he died? If so, did this violence lead to his death? These questions are at the heart of the investigations. This Thursday evening, the criminal trail is widely explored but the gendarmes do not rule out a natural or accidental death. The autopsy carried out by this Friday morning will provide decisive elements.
