The actor was only 54 years old and was known for his role in the hit series “Friends”, in which he played the role of Chandler Bing.

Following the actor’s death, an investigation was opened. The police quickly ruled out the criminal trail. At the beginning of the week, an autopsy was carried out by forensic doctors but it did not provide any information that could explain the death of the actor. At the same time, toxicological analyzes were also carried out: these made it possible to conclude that the death of Matthew Perry was not linked to an overdose of fentanyl – an opioid analgesic – nor of methamphetamine.

Furthermore, the police got their hands on numerous medications – most of them antidepressants and anxiolytics – in the actor’s home. Other analyzes must still be carried out, in particular to find out if the actor of 54 had consumed drugs: these analyzes will perhaps take several weeks before being able to give a conclusive result, but the investigators have not got their hands on no such product in the star’s home.

Matthew Perry has repeatedly spoken about his addiction to drugs and alcohol. The person concerned had undergone numerous detoxification treatments and had suffered several hospitalizations because of this: “I played in Friends from 24 to 34 years old. I got caught up in the whirlwind of fame. From an outside perspective, it looked like I had it all. Those were actually lonely times for me, because I suffered from alcoholism. I already was before Friendsbut it’s a progressive disease”, he explained in 2022, while the actor was promoting his book Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.

On October 28, Matthew Perry went to play a game of pickleball, a racket sport, for 2 hours, according to the American celebrity media site TMZ. Once he returned home, he asked his assistant to go shopping. It was this assistant, back at the actor’s home, who made the macabre discovery. This Monday, October 30, the actors of the series Friends who played alongside Matthew Perry, said they were “devastated” by the death of the fifty-year-old: “We were more than just film colleagues. We are a family”, they said. they testified in a joint statement.
