A vigorous low pressure system moving through the Ohio Valley along a cold front is causing a significant soak in the mid-Atlantic today. This produces the necessary 1 to 2 inches of rain late this evening. The dreary weather clears up Wednesday and also creates a sunny and seasonable Thanksgiving Day.

The calm weather is expected to continue through Black Friday, but the weekend could see some increase in cloud cover, cooler weather and perhaps a period of rain.

Today (Tuesday): The rain is developing this morning from the southwest to the northeast. Rain may be moderate to heavy at times this afternoon until late evening, so allow extra time for travel. The final weekend November is cooler to colder than normal. High temperatures on Saturday will be in the 40s to near 50. After lows in the 30s to 40s, Sunday is expected to be slightly milder with temperatures likely above 50 in most areas.
