Darwin Nunez could become Benfica’s latest product to light up the Premier League.
The striker continued his scoring season, with a goal for his club in the 3-1 Champions League loss to Liverpool.
Aged just 22, he has scored 28 goals in 35 games in European competitions this season.
Among the top scorers under 23, he leads the way in front of goal, with Dusan Vlahovic at 25 and Erling Haaland at 23.
Obviously, age is just a number and Nunez shows why so many teams value his services.
Considering Arsenal were so keen on Vlahovic in January, some fans might see Juventus stepping in to nab him at Fiorentina as a blessing if they win the race to sign his serve.
Speaking on talkSPORT, European football journalist Andy Brassell gave some insight into the type of player he is and his future.
“Darwin Nunez has already been quite close to the Premier League a few times,” he said.
“The first time, before he joined Benfica, was when he left Almeria.

“And Benfica decided they wanted him so badly that they paid way more than they intended to pay in the first place, over €20m.
“But he’s proven he’s really worth it, I think when they bought him they thought they’d sell him to a Premier League club at some point, and he has all the attributes that make you think he would end up in England at some point.
“He’s strong, he’s physical, can hold the ball, he’s a great finisher of course, but he can also direct the channels.
“He’s just a centre-forward bull, he occupies defenders and not just a defender, but centre-backs so well.
“In terms of goals scored, in a team that has struggled a bit this season, they were big favorites to win the Benfica league at the start of the season, and at the start of last season when they spent a lot of money for bringing in a lot of players, including big deals like Jan Vertongen.
“And they are well behind, they are in third place this season, nine points behind second place Sporting [Lisbon]so they will almost certainly be in the Champions League play-offs at the end of the summer this year.
“But despite everything that happened around him, change of coach, he kept his head down and was brilliant.
“He’s so physical, he puts so much effort into the game that there will be miles on the clock at some point.
“It hasn’t deterred Premier League clubs as far as I know.
“West Ham were very interested in signing him, but wouldn’t go all the way to the €60m Benfica wanted in the winter.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up there at some point.”
Tottenham will be looking for more firepower if Harry Kane leaves, while the Gunners are likely to want a new striker this summer too and money is no issue for Newcastle who won’t bat an eyelid at a possible €60m price tag. .
