Darwin Nunez forgets World Cup struggles with a six-minute brace against AC Milan on Liverpool’s return as the Reds prepare for Man City in style

Liverpool fans concerned about Darwin Nunez’s World Cup struggles need not worry as the Uruguayan was back in full form in his club kit.
Nunez netted a brace in just over half an hour of football in a friendly against AC Milan, showing he hasn’t lost his finishing touch despite what happened in Qatar .

The striker was starting to look like the player Liverpool paid up to £84m before club football was suspended, ending a decent run of games with a brace against Southampton.
However, in Doha, Nunez might as well not have shown up, starting Uruguay’s three group games with no progress.
The 23-year-old managed just three shots despite playing the majority of his country’s minutes, with his title an unnecessary yellow card in the win over Ghana.
But his World Cup worries were swept away by two goals in six minutes against Serie A champions Milan in a 4-1 win.
The first was a fine finish after an assist from youngster Bobby Clark, before he hit a cross from Ben Doak.
Mohamed Salah had scored the opener with Thiago scoring the Reds’ other goal with a typically delicious long-range strike.

Speaking after the game, Jurgen Klopp was happy with Nunez but especially the young talent on display.
“I’m not sure the Academy can watch the game tonight, but when you see these boys and play in a game like this, it’s cool,” he said.
“It’s a real physical game, adult football is a physical game and the boys have to take those steps [so] they can prepare for it step by step.
“The physical part will come, but until you’re that strong, you can create a lot of ideas, you can do things a little bit smarter. And when you see what Bobby did with the pass for Darwin… and then Darwin scores twice, so obviously really nice.

“Oxlade [Chamberlain], very good. fabio [Carvalho] when it arrived, really good. A lot of very good things tonight and that’s why we’re playing football.
Liverpool have now completed their friendlies in Dubai and will return to Merseyside before traveling to Manchester City for a League Cup clash on December 22.
