Daniel Cormier doesn’t like what happens to UFC fighters after Jake Paul knocks them out while discussing Tyron Woodley
| Today Headlines | News Today
You might be surprised to learn that Daniel Cormier isn’t a fan of what Jake Paul does to his mixed martial arts colleagues.
The professional boxer-turned-YouTuber knocked out former UFC champion Tyron Woodley in their rematch in December.
After showing a lot of bitterness after the fall of their first fight in August, the two showed a lot of respect after the second meeting.
Woodley even encouraged fans to send him memes of him on the web after taking Paul’s dynamite right hand, but to Cormier that was a bad sign.
“T-Wood is my boy, I love T-Wood,” the former UFC heavyweight champion told ESPN. “It wasn’t good, it’s a bad look. And you know what’s worse? The after.
“I don’t know what T-Wood is doing on social media. He’s posting the knockout, he’s doing a contest about it – It’s like Jake Paul is beating these dudes so badly that they start to laugh at themselves.
Woodley and Paul fought a pretty mundane contest until the knockout, but Cormier at least enjoyed the way Paul organized this opening.
“That’s the problem with these guys who are going to fight Jake Paul because you watch what happens,” Cormier added.
“I’m watching Saturday’s fight – streaming the fight to my phone – and Tyron is there sort of doing his thing, and then Jake Paul starts to gain momentum.
“Brother, that right hand that he hit Tyron with, it was actually pretty smooth because what he did was pretend on him.” He faked on T-Wood, T-Wood dropped his hand, so when he threw the second and the hand fell, it wasn’t an overhand right, it was a hook.
“That’s how you know he got the brother, because T-Wood said, ‘He got me with the right side. He doesn’t even know what got him.
Paul has now defeated two UFC veterans in Ben Askren and Woodley and the 24-year-old has called out UFC boss Dana White and begged him to let him take on top stars Jorge Masvidal, Nate Diaz and even Conor McGregor.
Cormier, who had his own issues with Paul at UFC 261 earlier this year, explained his issue with guys losing to Paul.
Ben Askren immediately almost laughed at himself. It’s almost like you’re so embarrassed that you lost to the Disney Kid or the YouTuber that you almost start to belittle yourself. [sic]. It’s bad. It’s bad what’s happening to these guys.
“What’s unfortunate is I’m like, ‘Tyron got it this time. Tyron got it. You said,’ No way Tyron beats this guy, he’s going to lose. ‘ I’m like ‘You’re crazy.’ This guy is going to knock T-Wood out, man, that was bad.
