Complaint about leaky apartment leads to discovery of drug factory in Ledyard, police say


LEDYARD, CT (WFSB) – A complaint about an apartment ceiling leak led to the arrest of a drug factory in Ledyard, police say.

Police say they arrested Nicholas McNeil, 25, for operating a drug manufacturing plant, growing marijuana with intent to sell, possession with intent to sell near a school and possession of drug paraphernalia .

Police and firefighters said they responded to the Flintlock Road flat. The unit is part of the Fox Run apartments.

A resident reported water leaking from the ceiling.

The police knocked on the apartment door above, but there was no response.

A resort maintenance worker entered the apartment to find the source of the leak and found the drug factory, police said.

McNeil, who was not there when the entrance was made, eventually returned and was arrested.

He was held on $150,000 bond or bond and given a court date Friday in New London.
