Coast Guard rescues man from fishing boat 57 miles west of Naples

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Coast Guard evacuated a 60-year-old man who was struggling to breathe aboard a fishing boat 57 miles west of Gordon Pass near Naples Friday night.

According to Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, a Coast Guard helicopter crew lifted the man and two other passengers from their ship American Patriot and took them to Gulf Coast Hospital in Fort Myers.

The Coast Guard encourages all mariners to have reliable means of communication in case of an emergency.
