City of Virginia, schools under shelter-in-place as ‘armed and dangerous’ man at large: police


Residents of a Virginia town were ordered to shelter in place Thursday as police searched for a dangerous gunman who had tried to run over two officers with a stolen police cruiser, authorities said.

Officers gathered in South Pulaski to search for Jerrod Ceablee Brown, who stole additional firearms from the police vehicle after it crashed and fled on foot, the Pulaski Police Department said. .

All residents of the Southside and several schools in the area have been ordered to shelter in place until the situation is resolved, officials said.

The schools included Pulaski Primary School, Critzer Primary School, Dublin Primary School, Pulaski County Middle School, Pulaski County High School, as well as the school board office.

“This is simply a precautionary measure, and there are no actual issues inside Pulaski County Public Schools buildings,” Pulaski County Public Schools said in a post on Facebook.

Police advised residents not to approach Brown if they spot him and to call 911 instead.
