Chris Rock reportedly invited to host 2023 Golden Globes

The Oscars producers aren’t the only ones slamming the idea of asking Chris Rock to host an awards show.

The 57-year-old comedian has reportedly been offered a “ton” of money to host the 2023 Golden Globes, according to Puck.

But the ‘Everybody Hates Chris’ alum apparently doesn’t like the idea of making big money capitalizing on the viral moment when Will Smith, 53, took the stage and slapped him at the Oscars 2022 and turned down the job.

The alleged request comes days after the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the organization that organizes the show, announced that it had signed a one-year contract with NBC to broadcast the Globes on January 10, 2023.

This comes after the network pulled out of airing the 2022 awards show due to a lack of diversity within the HFPA, as well as alleged ethical misconduct.

Rock was also reportedly invited to host the Oscars next year, but declined.

The “Grown Ups” star also claimed he was offered – but turned down – a post-Super Bowl slap commercial, according to AZ Central.

In fact, he hasn’t said much about the incident publicly at all. Instead, he worked the subject on his stand-up tour with Dave Chapelle around the world.

“Yeah, that hurts, motherfucker — but I shook that off and went to work the next day,” Rock said onstage while performing alongside Kevin Hart and Dave Chappelle at Madison Square Garden in July. “Anyone who says ‘words hurt’ has never been punched in the face.”

“I’m not a victim, motherfucker,” Rock said the next day in Holmdel, New Jersey. “I’m not going to the hospital for a paper cut.”

But not everyone was laughing when he joked in Phoenix, Arizona, that returning to the Oscar would be like asking Nicole Brown Simpson “to go back to the restaurant” where she left her glasses before she was killed.

During a show in Liverpool, UK, Rock told Chappelle: “. . .The mother hit me for a bulls joke, the greatest joke I’ve ever told,” referring to Smith.

Chappelle then took the microphone and added: “Will has been looking like a perfect person for 30 years, and he ripped off his mask and showed us that he was as ugly as all of us.

“Whatever the consequences. . . I hope he doesn’t put his mask back on and lets his real face breathe,” he told the ‘Men in Black’ star.

Smith, however, publicly apologized in a YouTube video in July, but said Rock was “not ready” to speak one-on-one.

The Post has contacted representatives for Rock and the Golden Globes.
