Chris Christie claims to be Trump’s ‘target’ after criticizing him

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (right) claims to be former President Trump’s latest ‘target’ after he said during an appearance on ABC This week that Trump was so ‘toxic’ that ‘boring’ Joe Biden won in 2020.

“Joe Biden’s president because Donald Trump lost. Joe Biden did not win, and Joe Biden never took ownership of that fact. So he’s still doing what he was doing when he was racing, which he thinks is great, because ‘I won’,” Christie told ABC’s Jon Karl over the weekend.

“No, you didn’t win, Trump lost, and you can’t change who somebody is, Jon,” Christie continued, admitting that Biden is “old” and “boring.” However, Christie said Biden was successful in the last election because he was “running against someone…who was so toxic that he still won.”

Trump turned to TruthSocial, hitting back at Christie, pointing to the former governor’s abysmal endorsement ratings as well as the 60-year-old’s failed presidential campaign and his endorsement of Chris Wray for the FBI.

“‘Sloppy’ Chris Christie, the failed former governor of New Jersey, has spent most of the last year campaigning in New Hampshire for the Republican presidential nomination,” Trump said.

“Like his tenure, where he left with just a 9% approval rating, his presidential campaign was a complete disaster. He endorsed me the next day, then recommended Chris Wray for the FBI (how did that worked?), went down in flames, then was SAVED by ABC FAKE NEWS. Never wanted him! he exclaimed.

Christie then claimed to be the “target of Donald Trump’s new tantrum”.

“None of his lies about me today bothered him when he asked me to groom him for every general election debate or offered me 3 different cabinet posts. He is the only man to lose against Biden outside of Delaware. That loss to Joe still stings,” Christie added:

It’s far from the first time Christie has publicly criticized Trump, saying during a December appearance on ABC This week that Trump was helping Democrats — not Republicans — win, pointing to the loss of former Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker.

Christie said:

And on the Donald Trump side, I mean, you know, we all remember, in 2016, he said, if he got elected, there would be so many wins and wins and wins and wins, they tired of winning. None of us knew at the time he was actually speaking that the Democrats were going to do all of this to win, not the Republicans. And that’s what he forged. And Herschel Walker is his creation. And so he has to admit the fact that Herschel Walker underperformed so much in one state that – as we saw earlier, every other Republican running statewide won except for Herschel Walker . Do you know what that tells you? Bad candidate.

Christie also urged Republicans to dump Trump “selfish” after midterms, but survey After survey shows Trump leading in the hypothetical double-digit 2024 presidential primary race, and some even show it first President Biden too.
