Chester County Schools to Receive Money for Electric Bus Fleet – WSOC TV

CHESTER COUNTY, SC – The Chester County School District will soon receive a fleet of electric school buses.

Chester is one of 16 school districts in South Carolina receiving funding for electric buses, part of a federal grant.

The state as a whole has received more than $50 million for the purchase of the electric buses, which is part of the Clean School Bus program rebate competition.

The rebate amount Chester receives is $3.1 million for eight buses. They should be delivered by October 2024.

“We are thrilled to have been chosen for this grant,” said Chief Operating Officer Adam Davis. “These are exciting times for schools in Chester County, and these new buses will hopefully be the first step in the development and progress of our transport in the future.”

The school district hopes the buses will provide a better overall experience for students who ride them.

“Chester County Schools are excited to advance our fleet with these new buses. Electric buses are cleaner, quieter and create a better transportation experience for students and transportation staff,” said Superintendent Dr. Anthony Sutton.
