Car crashes into Chicago-area home, seriously injuring 2

A chilling ordeal unfolded in a town near Chicago on Wednesday night when an SUV drove through the garage of a house and then found itself lodged inside the house.

Crystal Lake police say the driver of the SUV and a person inside the home both suffered life-threatening injuries. They were airlifted to local hospitals.

The crash happened around 7 p.m. at a home on Heather Drive.

Police say it is unclear why the man driving the SUV left the road and hit the house. It had to be extracted from the wreckage by Crystal Lake Fire and Rescue.

A neighbor took photos of the aftermath of the shocking accident.

Danielle Leschuk shared the photos with Fox News Digital. They show extensive damage to a detached garage, as well as the house. The blue SUV can be seen driving out of the house. The garage appears to have partially collapsed due to damage sustained in the crash.

“It was awful to feel so helpless and to know that people were seriously hurt and had no way to help,” Leschuk told Fox News Digital.
