Can Putting Vaseline On Your Teeth Help You Smile Longer? | Beauty

the hack
Use Vaseline to help you smile easier and longer.

The test
In our image- and video-laden worlds, smiling for long periods of time becomes an occupational hazard. Like looking enthusiastic in a Zoom meeting or overjoyed in a boring wedding. So what can you do to ensure that the right-timed smile is relatively painless and isn’t thwarted by a dry mouth or lipstick causing your teeth to stick to your lips?

According to the pageant queens, just use a little petroleum jelly on your teeth. I put it to the test in a photo shoot, where I have to smile all day – which is both deeply anti-Gothic and tiring, actually. I swipe a small amount of petroleum jelly on my teeth (like applying lip balm) after applying my lipstick.

And, although I initially doubted the usefulness of this, it did help me smile more easily, as my lips didn’t stick to my teeth at all. It also kept me from getting lipstick on my teeth. But you also want to smile more – although that’s because it tastes weird and slimy when your mouth is closed.

The verdict
It’s a great hack for events where you need to smile at the right time, all day, but not one for every day, because you’ll definitely ingest it – and also because life is too short to smile that much. I’m probably not cut out for the contest life.
