The Santa Barbara, Calif., Fire Department responds to an out-of-control gathering over spring break and says “several medical emergencies” have been reported.

“SBC Fire has declared an MCI (Multiple Injury Incident) associated with multiple medical emergencies, including multiple severe trauma,” the Santa Barbara Fire Department public information officer tweeted late Saturday. “These are associated with heavy crowds in Isla Vista for the unsanctioned beach party known as Deltopia. Many balconies are overcrowded.”
