Bukayo Saka was the star of the show as he scored twice in a 5-0 win for Arsenal over Norwich City.
Kieran Tierney, Alexandre Lacazette and Emile Smith Rowe also scored as Mikel Arteta’s side claimed three consecutive Premier League wins.
It was always going to be a tall order for the Canaries against one of the top-form fit teams, but they didn’t help each other by conceding early on.
Norwich center-back and ex-Liverpool player Ozan Kabak gave the ball away and typically the Gunners have been ruthless.
Martin Odegaard received the ball in the center of the goal from Gabriel Martinelli who moved the ball to the England winger who landed a nice left-footed strike in the lower left corner in front of goalkeeper Angus Gunn.
As good as the goal is, former Arsenal left winger Perry Groves on talkSPORT 2’s commentary was not impressed with the defense.
“Really sloppy play from Norwich, [Ozan] Kabak gives the ball, [Brandon] Williams has to get close to Saka, he can’t let him shoot, he has to show him the outside, ”said Groves.
“All around Norwich, sloppy defense, you have to tighten up.”
While the scoring line did not deteriorate for a while, Norwich still rarely threatened the Gunners’ goal and it was only a matter of time before the visitors brought the score to 2-0.
They inevitably did as Odegaard was heavily involved again, this time picking up the ball in the middle of midfield before slipping a nice pass into the left channel for Tierney to run into, then passing it coldly past Gunn.
The second half was something of an exhibition, the hosts looked defeated and Arsenal saw the game go on until the final 25 minutes, when Arteta’s side flexed their muscles again.
Saka got his first brace of the season and in doing so produced a strike that was almost a replica of his first.
A little further this time, the Arsenal academy product cut inside Williams again before finding the bottom left for the second time.
While praising the goal, Groves was still not happy with the defense.
“It is a top quality objective from Saka, from Tierney to Odegaard, to Lacazette which imposes it on Saka.
“Again Brandon Williams, letting him cut inside, is one of Saka’s best goals, but again Williams has to come close.”
As if Norwich thinks their day couldn’t get any worse, they do, as captain Lacazette’s late goals via the penalty spot and Smith Rowe, his third in as many games after coming off the bench, carried the score. 5-0 to the Gunners. .
Days like today won’t define whether Norwich will stay on or not, but losing heavily has a significant impact on the goal difference which could prove crucial at the end of the season.
