Browns’ Deshaun Watson disciplinary hearing set to begin Tuesday: report

The Cleveland Browns will know The future of Deshaun Watson in the NFL very soon.

League sources told ESPN on Saturday that Watson’s hearing before the NFLPA and the league’s jointly appointed disciplinary officer, Sue L. Robinson, is set to begin on Tuesday, with the NFL pushing for a “long” suspension.

Watson recently agreed to a confidential settlement with 20 of his 24 sexual misconduct accusers. He faced several charges in multiple sexual misconduct lawsuits with massage therapists. He was cleared of criminal wrongdoing by two Texas grand juries as the charges were filed in the state.

According to the report, a source said the decision could come in a week. The Browns open training camp July 22 for rookies with veterans expected July 26.

If the union or league appeals Robinson’s decision, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell or his designate “will issue a written decision which shall constitute a full, final and complete disposition of the dispute”, pursuant to the terms of Article 46. of the CBA.

Watson has repeatedly denied the allegations that stemmed from his stint as a quarterback for the Houston Texans. An explosive report of the New York Times this month alleged that the Texans played a role in the quarterback’s alleged behavior, including providing him with nondisclosure agreements and a location for his massage habit.

Watson told reporters last week he was still clearing his name. He again told reporters that he had never “forced” or “attacked” anyone.

“I never forced anyone. I never assaulted anyone. I’ve said that from the start and I’m going to keep saying that,” Watson said. via the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. “I understand that these allegations are very serious. … I am focused on clearing my name.”
