BRISTOL, CT (WFSB) – A nationwide fad involving illegal street racing arrived in Bristol on Friday.

According to police, a “street takeover” occurred on June 17 between Farmington and Stafford avenues.

They said several hundred vehicles were blocking an intersection, which was also packed with passers-by.

Passers-by watched the drivers perform donuts and drift on the roads.

Police have described a “street takeover” as a nationwide trend where illegal street racers block roads and perform dangerous stunts while observers record video.

Bristol Police said they were actively investigating the incident and identified several vehicles through CCTV.
