On Saturday evening, President Biden called the shooting in Buffalo, New York, which left at least 10 dead and 3 injured earlier in the day, “senseless” and condemned “domestic terrorism fueled by hate”, noting that the shooter’s motivation is still under investigation.
“Tonight, we mourn the families of ten people whose lives were taken for no reason and all who suffer physical and emotional injuries from this horrific shooting,” the president said in a statement.
“We are grateful for the bravery of law enforcement and other first responders who took immediate action to try to protect and save lives. The First Lady and I pray for the victims and their families, and the hearts of the whole country are with the people of Buffalo.”

Biden said that while the motivation for the shooting isn’t entirely clear, “we don’t need anything more to state a clear moral truth: A racially motivated hate crime is abhorrent to the very fabric of this nation. Any act of domestic terrorism, including an act perpetrated in the name of a repugnant white nationalist ideology, is contrary to everything we stand for in America.”
