Ben Affleck laughed at looking bored at the Grammys – ‘He’d rather be in Dunkin’


Ben Affleck’s straight facial expression every time the camera turned to him at Sunday’s 65th Grammy Awards sparked a flood of mocking tweets.

The actor, 50, attended the star-studded ceremony with his wife Jennifer Lopez, whose diverse career has seen her gain a foothold in the world of music and film over the past few decades.

And while Lopez, 53, was seen rocking to the performance from her main seat at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Affleck looked like he could barely muster a rhythmic nod as the events of the night was passing.

The cameras turned to the daredevil star repeatedly throughout the show, showing reactions that would have betrayed his emotions had he been impressed.

The moments were grabbed by a host of social media users, who joked about the actor’s apparent boredom at night and even suggested he looked like he’d rather visit a branch of Dunkin’ Donuts.

Sharing a screenshot of Affleck next to Lopez, HuffPost Editor-in-Chief Philip Lewis writing on Twitter: “Ben Affleck seems like he’d rather be at Dunkin.”

Buzzfeed deputy editorial director Spencer Althouse posted video footage of Lopez applauding a performance as Affleck’s head barely moved.

Althouse commented that “whatever bad day you’re having, I promise you’re not as miserable as Ben Affleck at the Grammys right now.”

“Why is Ben Affleck’s FACE LIKE THIS?” screenwriter Alanna Bennett asked.

“I have never seen a man with more of a face of existential dread than Ben Affleck,” Bennett added in a follow-up tweet.

Writer and podcast host Elamin Abdelmahmoud also weighed in on Affleck’s appearance on the show, Tweeter: “Whoever keeps cutting Ben Affleck as he grows more exasperated, thank you.”

Despite the seemingly less than impressive moments filmed, Affleck was pictured smiling broadly with fellow actor Adrien Brody as they greeted each other as they entered the venue.

Affleck’s appearance at the Grammy’s comes after a video showing him protesting to Lopez that he hadn’t been drinking while they attended a party went viral on TikTok. The star has been open about her alcohol addiction in the past.

In the clip, Lopez is joined by Affleck at an after party for the Hollywood premiere of her new film. shotgun wedding January 18.

As Lopez’s hit “Let’s Get Loud” sounds in the background, Lopez is seen holding a glass of wine as Affleck shouts over the music, “I haven’t had a drink, okay?”

Lopez is then seen lifting the glass and maintaining eye contact with Affleck as she cautiously tastes the drink before putting it down, as her husband shouts, “Jen!”

A number of TikTok users criticized Lopez, suggesting that she was not supporting Affleck by drinking alcohol. Others insisted that Lopez was actually just tasting the drink to check if it contained alcohol. Affleck, who has spoken about his alcoholism, has been to rehab several times.

Newsweek previously reached out to reps for Affleck and Lopez for comment.

Affleck recently entered rehab for alcohol addiction in August 2018, after his ex-wife Jennifer Garner staged an intervention. Photos showed the two were heading to a treatment center in Malibu, California.

The screen star first entered a rehab facility in 2001. In March 2017, he announced on Facebook that he had completed treatment again.

“I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I have dealt with in the past and will continue to face,” he wrote. “I want to live life to the fullest and be the best dad I can be.”

The father-of-three then added: “I want my children to know that there is no shame in asking for help when you need it and to be a source of strength for anyone who needs it. help but is afraid to take the first step.”

Last summer, Affleck married his Gigli co-star Lopez, who he was first linked to two decades ago. The couple married in July.
