Barcelona would aim Chelsea Duo Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner in reinforcement options to Raheem Sterling of Manchester City.
Sterling remains the club’s main target in the January transfer window and the club explored the possibility of signing him last summer, with the Citizens valuing him at around £ 45million.
But ESPN reported that Barcelona are considering players who are not regular starters in their current squads so they can loan them to Camp Nou.
The Catalans’ financial situation left the club with no choice but to seek temporary deals rather than permanent transfers.
Ziyech and Werner have fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea this season under head coach Thomas Tuchel, with both players going through tough campaigns.
The two Blues stars joined last summer from Ajax and RB Leipzig, respectively, and failed to make a big impact at Chelsea.
Barcelona are also monitoring Cesar Azpilicueta’s situation with his contract expiring next summer and they could potentially sign him for a free transfer.
Meanwhile, Xavi’s main priority is recruiting attacking players with limited resources and selling off those who are not in his long-term plans.
