Hello everyone and welcome to the live coverage of Day 2 of the Fourth Ashes Test. We’re in class at Sydney Cricket Ground at 10am local time (11pm UK time).

That’s right, we’re underway half an hour earlier than usual today – although it might seem like an hour earlier, considering how many starts this series has delayed for one reason or another.

Yesterday there was not much to do lyrically because the numerous downpours floating around Sydney made it impossible for the piece to beat. The field looks good to the batter, but there is enough help for the bowlers if they get the ball in the right areas often enough. David Warner looked long before his nemesis Stuart Broad did what he usually does. James Anderson found the swing but lacked precision. Mark Wood was quick. Marcus Harris cemented his status at the top of the Order after his runs at the MCG.

Today’s forecast is still rainy, but there is much less chance of game interruptions. The Test should advance considerably in extended sessions.
