President Biden is considering an order that would protect national access to abortion pills – this according to a leak to Politico.

Meanwhile, Biden said yesterday in Massachusetts that he would issue an executive order on climate change, which has been talked about in the press, because Congress won’t do anything. “We must act,” he said. The thing is, the Democrats don’t have the votes, thanks to Joe Manchin.

Politico says an abortion pill order ‘could have the most immediate impact on the ground while suppressing Democrats’ demands for stronger action’ but ‘still faces deep skepticism from aides superiors who are not convinced that he would survive the inevitable legal challenges”.

Of course, these things need to be fully checked. So why did three anonymous sources post this one? As a trial balloon? Pressure Biden to do it?

Rather than take a bold step by announcing a dramatic move, the president is letting those ideas play out in the press before he acts or fails to act. His previous decree on the right to abortion was so vague that nobody talks about it much. He proposed a gas tax holiday and a filibuster exception to codify Roe v. Wade, only to drop both proposals when his party refused to accept it.

The result is that he almost always plays catch-up and looks ineffective.

Now let’s look at the news that Donald Trump has made in recent days. Everything is almost negative towards him, but he feeds on the conflict.

The Republican Speaker of the Wisconsin Assembly said Trump had called him “over the past week” to urge him to rescind the 2020 results in his state. Making the appeal after the state’s highest court ruled that mail-in ballot boxes could not be used in the future, Robin Vos said that “he would like us to do something different in Wisconsin. I explained that it is not authorized by the Constitution. Trump then posted a message calling Vos a RINO.

Georgia prosecutors have told 16 Trump supporters who created an alternative list of 2020 voters they could face criminal charges as part of the investigation – and legal experts say Trump is at risk . The former president asked Republican Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find 11,780 votes” to erase a Biden victory. Trump said on Truth Social yesterday that his two Georgia calls were “PERFECT” and “it’s the election itself that should be investigated.”

In another post, Trump appeared to compare the TV crew of Stephen Colbert, who was arrested on Capitol Hill for sneaking out after doing approved interviews, to the Jan. 6 rioters:

“Wow! Prosecutors just dropped all charges against Colbert Show staff members, who illegally entered the Capitol, ignored police warnings, did not leave the premises, and were very loud and disruptive late into the evening, with no security present as is mandated by law. These far-left crazies, from a failed show, were treated so differently.

He also weighed in on Pulitzer Prize officials rejecting his request to withdraw the awards from The New York Times and The Washington Post after his two independent investigations found no factual inaccuracies.

Charges against Stephen Colbert's staff were dropped on Monday. The United States Capitol Police Chief said on Tuesday that staffers on Colbert's show lied to authorities when they said they had credentials to be at a building in House offices last month before their arrests. DEJA VU: WHY THE MEDIA IS TURNING ON BOTH TRUMP AND BIDEN FOR 2024

“Instead of acting with integrity and being transparent, Pulitzer’s board is covering up the greatest failure in modern history: the bogus Russia-Russia-Russia collusion hoax,” Trump said.

And, of course, there’s the House prime-time hearing tonight on what the former president did for 187 minutes on January 6 before releasing a video asking rioters to go home.

Now, any other politician facing such a barrage would likely be grilled. But Trump has made it clear he is announcing a third White House bid, likely before the midterms, and will likely win the nomination because his base sees him fighting unjust enemies. At the same time, much of the media is not buying Biden’s insistence that he run again due to plummeting Democratic support.

It may seem strange to compare a president who argues unproven allegations of voter fraud to another president who tries to fight the real drudgery of government. But it also helps explain why the two men, both close to their 60s, draw such a different cover.
