Arsenal in ‘pole position’ to sign Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as alternative to Declan Rice transfer after West Ham price tag revealed

Arsenal have identified Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as the ideal alternative to Declan Rice in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners are desperate to strengthen their midfield department and have apparently identified Rice as the perfect signing.

Arteta wants to land Rice in the summer
However, a move in the winter market was always going to prove difficult and instead a summer move is on the way, despite the arrival of Jorginho from Chelsea.
West Ham are set to face a barrage of offers for the England international, with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea also interested.
But Mikel Arteta has already identified an ideal ‘Plan B’ target in Lazio star Milinkovic-Savic, according to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness.
The report goes on to state that the Serbia international has decided to leave the Stadio Olimpico this summer as he is desperate to play in the Champions League.
Much like Rice, Milinkovic-Savic’s contract expires at the end of next season and Lazio may have to submit offers this summer in an attempt not to lose the midfielder for free in 2024.
And Arsenal are among those ahead of the pack after taking steps to secure his signature before their rivals convinced the 27-year-old on the Emirates move.

Arsenal interested in Milinkovic-Savic
A summer offer was on the cards last year but Milinkovic-Savic was unconvinced by the idea of a move to the Gunners, especially after finishing fifth in the Premier League.
But with the title in sight – and a top-four finish at a minimum – Arsenal can now ease their status as a Champions League club to lure players into the transfer market.
The Gunners have made Rice their main target, who is also keen on a move to north London.
However, West Ham have valued the 24-year-old at £100million which could deter Arteta and sporting director Edu from pursuing their interest.

Arsenal are a club interested in Rice
With such interest in the England international, the Hammers could be encouraged to stick to their guns for a transfer fee.
Arsenal also tried to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton in January and made two offers, the latest totaling £70million, but they were outright rejected by the Seagulls, who insisted the Ecuadorian would not was not for sale.
Jorginho was eventually signed from Chelsea on an 18-month deal with an option for another year.
