Arsenal have seen three deadline day offers rejected by Aston Villa for Douglas Luiz.
The Brazilian midfielder was targeted for a late move to the Gunners, having attracted interest from Liverpool, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid in the summer.
The 24-year-old Brazilian has spent the last three years at Villa Park after leaving Manchester City. He is in the final year of his contract at the club.
Arsenal submitted a £20million bid for the player early on deadline day, but this was rejected by the Villans, before returning with a £23million offer.
This too was rejected and talkSPORT understands Arsenal then submitted a THIRD bid of the day in the evening, worth £25million, but Villa also declined.
Luiz scored against Arsenal on Wednesday night, netting straight from a corner in Villa’s 2-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium, and Mikel Arteta hoped he would be the man to ease his concerns in midfield.
Arteta is without Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny through injury ahead of this weekend’s trip to Manchester United.

Despite this deadline setback, it has been a very productive transfer window for Arsenal, who signed five signings over the summer, including Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus.
Meanwhile, Villa have made eight signings in this window, including the acquisition of Leander Dendoncker from Wolves on deadline day.
