With a summer move now on the cards, interest from Premier League sides could be rekindled ahead of the transfer window.

As Spanish outlet Relevo report, the 27-year-old is set to leave Madrid when his contract ends.

Since December, talks had taken place over a possible extension of his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, he rejected Madrid’s renewal offer and will leave for a new club in the coming weeks.

Earlier reports in November said he was considering a new contract with the Champions League holders.

Arsenal and Manchester United are believed to have expressed interest in the winger alongside Liverpool, with Asensio now a free agent.

He signed for Madrid in 2014 from Mallorca and was sent back there on loan, before moving to Espanyol for the 2015/16 campaign.

Upon his return, Asensio started and scored on his debut for Madrid in their 3-2 Super Cup win over Sevilla, the first of 16 trophies he would win at the club.

Three of those have gone on to become La Liga titles, with the Spain international also picking up a Champions League treble.

In 285 appearances for Madrid, Asensio has scored 61 goals and assisted another 32 in all competitions.

He’s been a reliable asset at one of the biggest clubs in the world for the past seven years, but is now ready to prove himself elsewhere.
