rsenal strengthened its research department by hiring Florian Bluchel to monitor talent in Germany.

Bluchel comes to the club with an impressive CV, having already worked at Bayern Munich for more than a decade.

The German announced his move to Arsenal via the LinkedIn website, revealing he has been with the Gunners since October.

Bluchel explained that his role will be that of “international first team scout”, focusing mainly on the German market. It will aim to combine traditional methods of live spotting with the use of a digital approach and video analysis.

While working at Bayern, Bluchel focused on the Spanish, Italian, Polish, Czech, US and German transfer markets, adding that he was “involved in all player targeting decision-making processes for the first team and l ‘academy”.

He is the latest signing to Arsenal’s recruiting squad, which was reshuffled last year. The club have let go of a number of recruiters, including famous talent scout Francis Cagigao, as part of a restructuring.

Arsenal technical director Edu explained at the time that he wanted to work with a tight-knit recruiting department.
