Arkansas authorities are looking for an escaped inmate convicted of raping a minor and tampering with physical evidence in 2013, county records show.
Samuel Hartman, a 38-year-old inmate from the Eastern Arkansas Regional Unit, was sentenced to life in 2013 but escaped on a retail job in a field near the detention center, according to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
Hartman and two alleged accomplices allegedly shot corrections officers pursuing the couple.
Authorities are looking for Hartman’s 38-year-old sister, Misty Hartman, and 60-year-old mother, Linda Annette White, in connection with Hartman’s escape.
In a recording of a phone call between Samuel Hartman and White obtained by prosecutors, Hartman can be heard telling his mother that he touched the victim by “accident” and that the touching was “innocent”, according to court documents.

“I would continue to deny everything until the end. That’s what I would do, no matter what,” White told his son in a recorded phone call, according to court records.
She also told her son that “kids, they talk all kinds of bullshit all the time.”
“I mean, you know damn well you did no such thing,” she said in a recorded call, according to court documents.
