Ferdinand returned to his pundit role for BT Sport on Saturday
And he was immediately sent back to the Liverpool rivalry
Pleased to be back, Ferdinand posted a clip of his interactions with the fans inside the pitch before kick-off.
It featured a young Liverpool fan asking the former defender to sign his top, but Ferdinand insisted he couldn’t put his name on the Man United rivals shirt.
“He just asked me to sign a Liverpool shirt, are you crazy!?” says the commentator.
Ferdinand has previously spoken of his disdain for Liverpool after 12 years at Old Trafford.
In 2017 he said: “I think there’s a mutual respect between the two football clubs, but also a mutual feeling of ‘I respect what you’ve achieved and done, but I can’t stand you’.
“I quickly got into it. As a football player, you become a fan of the team you play for.

Ferdinand is considered one of the greatest defenders in United history
“I was at United for 12 years so the dislike for Liverpool grew stronger the longer I wore that shirt because I immersed myself in everything Manchester United and I became a full-fledged supporter.
“I still am, my children are, and many of my family members are too. You quickly understand what it means to play and beat Liverpool, to prevent them from winning anything or achieving anything.
“Keeping them under you is something that was ingrained in you as a Manchester United footballer.”
