Antonio Conte believes Harry Kane should be considered one of the greatest strikers of all time.
The Tottenham boss was asked about Karim Benzema’s sublime performance in Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Chelsea on Wednesday night, a game Conte attended.
While the French striker rightly draws huge praise for his current form, Conte couldn’t help but praise his own striking sensation.
After a slow start, Kane is back to his best with 22 goals and seven assists this season, which Conte says puts the England skipper among the best of all time.
Conte said: “He deserves an important position in the world of football.
“I think Harry too he’s the right age to show that he can be one of the best, the best in the world but especially in history, right? I think he’s already in history because he scored a lot of goals for the club and scored a lot of goals for the national team.He is the captain.
“He has the right age to consolidate and be one of the best in the world. His role is a number nine but at the same time he can be a number ten because of his quality. He is very good at doing assists and to put the ball where he wants. We also try to exploit that aspect and give him the ball.
“Regarding our team, I try not to improve its quality but to be more efficient, to be in the box and a striker.

“I repeat that we are talking about a fantastic player, so it is very difficult to improve him but we are trying to work, to push him to have the highest ambition to become the best striker.”
Kane has been regularly linked with a move away from Spurs amid interest from Manchester City and Manchester United, but according to the striker his focus at the moment is much more short-term.
“Obviously my main goal is to finish this season first and foremost,” Kane said.
“We are still in competition for the top four. I can’t control what will happen in the future. It’s a big year for everyone, not just me.
“It’s about controlling what I can control and doing what I can on the pitch. It’s important during the summer to stay focused on that and look forward to a fantastic tournament.
When asked if he had spoken to Antonio Conte about his future, Kane replied: “I’m not going to get into a personal discussion between me and the manager.
“My main objective is to finish the season as best as possible. We have a big race to finish in the top four. The next ten games are all I’m focusing on.
