Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk rematch will likely take place in April 2022, Eddie Hearn reveals, despite rumors the Briton may drop out of the fight with the Ukrainian to fight Tyson Fury

Eddie Hearn has revealed that Anthony Joshua’s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk will most likely take place in April 2022.
The Briton was largely beaten by Usyk at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September and handed his WBA, WBO and IBF titles to the Ukrainian.
AJ, however, subsequently triggered a rematch and is expected to return to the ring in Q1 2022 in an effort to regain his belts.
It has been suggested that Joshua could drop Usyk’s rematch to allow him to fight Fury.
Bob Arum, Fury’s veteran co-promoter in the United States, also mentioned to talkSPORT that a withdrawal agreement has been discussed between the two parties.
But Hearn insists plans are underway to reschedule the fight and that April has been mentioned as the most likely month for the rematch.
“Obviously, not much else we need to get together and decide on a date,” Eddie Hearn said. IFL TV said while trying to schedule the rematch.
“April is realistic for this fight and where it’s going to be.
“AJ is the type to fight twice a year, and sometimes it feels like it would be nice to fight three times a year. We’ve had offers from all over the world, but I think the UK will organize it. this fight. ”
Hearn insists appropriate discussions will be underway now, as he has stated that AJ is not the type of fighter who only walks into the ring once a year – as he did in 2021 .
He added: “We have to sit down with [Usyk’s manager] Alex Krassyuk, and we’re going to put Christmas aside and start moving forward because it’s time to start planning this.
“Obviously there has been some talk about sideways and those kinds of fights. So we’ll have to see. But that seems highly unlikely now because of Dillian Whyte’s predicament, which AJ is celebrating.
“He didn’t want to have these conversations unless I introduced them to him.” So if not, he goes ahead with what he wants which is Oleksandr Usyk’s rematch.
When asked if the Joshua vs. Usyk Withdrawal Agreement had not been reached, Hearn said exhaustively, “No, no.
“Once the fight against Dillian Whyte was called [by the World Boxing Council], really, he comes in this situation and he has to be respected in this situation too.
