Amy Schumer didn’t expect to fire Penn Badgley‘s wife, Domino Kirke, but she did – and she finally told Badgley why.

The “Expecting Amy” star told Badgley on her podcast “PodcrushedWednesday that she boxed Kirke as her doula because Kirke was just too wonderful.

In 2019, Schumer hosted her son, Gene, with husband Chris Fischer after a extremely difficult pregnancy. Schumer explained on the podcast that Kirke helped her through her pregnancy and planned to babysit Kirke after giving birth, but just couldn’t handle it.

“Domino is like a goddess. It’s a real mermaid floating around the house,” Schumer told the “You” star. “She’s so adorable, and when she touches you, you kind of melt. And she was really a member of the family. And I felt so vulnerable, I was like, ‘I can’t have this fucking goddess of Botticelli floating around my house when I bleed.’ Although the comedian knows it was a “rather unfair” reason, she was recovering from a C-section, which took a toll on her.

“I just didn’t have the strength to afford the luxury of having him in our home,” she explained. “I was like, ‘I think you can’t come anymore.'”

The ‘Life & Beth’ star was open about hyperemesis gravidarum, which causes extreme nausea and vomiting, throughout her pregnancy. Schumer had to cancel the rest of her comedy tour when she was hospitalized with this illness.

“It’s so boring because all the time everyone tells you that [having a baby is] it’ll be worth it, and you’re just like, ‘Shut the fuck up, I’m puking all day,'” Schumer said on Badgley’s podcast. “And then you’re like, ‘Oh, my God,’ this is crazy. And [kids] keep getting better and having more and more fun.
