Alexis Sanchez will join Dimitri Payet, Nuno Tavares on loan from Arsenal and former team-mate Sead Kolasinac at Marseille as Inter Milan’s contract is set to be terminated

Alexis Sanchez looks set to join Marseille with the former Arsenal man reportedly out of contract with Inter Milan.

The Chilean striker was in the final year of his contract but was told he was not part of manager Simone Inzaghi’s plans.

There will be a familiar face or two welcoming Sanchez if he completes his move to Marseille

And journalist fabrice romano says the 33-year-old will move to the Ligue 1 side on a two-year contract.

The move will see Sanchez link up with three former Gunners, namely Sead Kolasinac, who he played with at Emirates Stadium, as well as Matteo Guendouzi and Nuno Tavares. Marseille also have former West Ham star Dimitri Payet in their ranks.

Tavares, who is spending the season on loan at Marseille, got off to a perfect start with a superb goal on his debut which saw them win 4-1 against Reims.

The Ligue 1 clash also featured fellow Gunners loanee Folarin Balogun, who came off the bench to score the Reims goal.

Sanchez was a fan favorite at Arsenal, scoring 80 goals and providing 45 assists in 166 appearances. He helped them to two FA Cup victories during his three-and-a-half years with the north Londoners.

He left Arsenal in January 2018 to join rivals Manchester United in a deal that saw Henrik Mkhitaryan go the other way.

The only good thing about Sanchez’s time at Man United was his salary, the Chilean believed to be pocketing over £500,000 a week.

But Sanchez’s dream move turned into a nightmare as he netted just five goals in 45 outings. The player later admitted he knew he made a mistake joining the Red Devils after just one training session.

Sanchez joined Inter in the summer of 2019 on an initial loan before making the move permanent on a free transfer a year later.

He has struggled to replicate his form from his days at Arsenal, but he has Serie A and Coppa Italia winners’ medals to boast of.

A hero in his native Chile, Sanchez helped the national team win the Copa America twice, in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
