Alec Baldwin’s film ‘Rust’ resumes filming with ‘enhanced security’ measures after cinematographer Halyna Hutchins is shot dead

Alec Baldwin’s Western Rustwho has been bombarded with indictments and lawsuits over the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins is set to resume filming in New Mexico, with promises of heightened security measures to be put in place, according to reports.

Star and producer Alec Baldwin was charged with manslaughter in January following the 2021 death of the film’s cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, who was shot when Baldwin fired a live ammunition from the gun that he was using as a prop during rehearsal for a scene being shot on the New Mexico film set. Hutchins later died from the bullet that struck her in the chest.

Hutchins’ family also filed a lawsuit against Baldwin and the production seeking compensation for assault, willful infliction of emotional distress and negligence, months after Baldwin settled a similar lawsuit with Hutchins’ husband.

Now, Baldwin and the film’s producers are announcing that filming is resuming after implementing heightened security measures, according to the Hollywood journalist.

“The production will feature enhanced safety protocols on set, including security supervisors and a ban on any working weapons or ammunition. Live ammunition has always been banned,” the newspaper notes.

THE Journalist added that Hutchins’ husband, Matthew Hutchins, offered his “full support” for the resumption of filming after Bianca Cline (american horror story) was hired to replace the deceased cinematographer on the project.

The scene that Baldwin and his team were rehearsing that caused Hutchins’ death was also dropped.

Prosecutors accuse Baldwin of skipping OSHA firearms safety training that was provided to cast and crew before filming in 2021. Officials also say in their filing that Baldwin received a “very limited” training on the use of his cross-draw holster used during rehearsal which left Hutchins dead.

The film’s former gunsmith, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, has also been charged in connection with the shooting.
