Adventureland unveils new attractions
Adventureland has unveiled a new attraction in Altoona next summer. At an exhibition in Orlando, representatives showcased the “ships that will set sail” next summer on the Viking-themed super water ride called “Draken Falls.” Each of the 10 Viking ships can accommodate six people in a three-row boat. The Norse theme will turn riders into Vikings as they tackle Draken Falls. According to Adventureland, the falls alternate between tranquil beauty and thrills, including speeds of up to 33 miles per hour. “Our guests have expressed a desire for a new log ride, and this next-gen version is bigger and better than anything else in the country,” said Adventureland General Manager Bill Lentz. Adventureland staff members say the new “Super Flume” ride features the biggest wave of any ride on the market, along with moments of airtime and speed. Draken Falls is one of two new integrated rides manufactured by Zamperla for Adventureland in 2023. The 1,312-foot “Flying Viking” roller coaster will fly over, under and around Draken Falls. Adventureland says season passes are available in a special “early Black Friday” sale for a limited time.
