The Governor of Rostov region, Russia, said the army was “doing its job” and called on people to remain calm. In recent days, Ukrainian attacks have multiplied on Russian border localities.
A Ukrainian missile was shot down by Russian air defenses over the Rostov region, local governor Vasily Golubev said on Telegram on May 25. The interception reportedly took place near Morozovsk, a town of 25,000 inhabitants located 250km northeast of the regional capital Rostov-on-Don.
“Near Morozovsk the air defense system went into action, shooting down a Ukrainian missile. The soldiers are doing their job. Stay calm,” Vasily Golubev said in a short message.
This attack comes in a context of resurgence of Ukrainian strikes on Russian localities close to Ukraine. Early in the morning of May 25, Crimean Governor Sergei Aksyonov announced on Telegram that six Ukrainian drones had been neutralized on the peninsula. The day before, the governor of Belgorod, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported drone strikes on his region.
“Ukrainian terror is spreading with the help of Western weapons”
On the same day, north of the Bosphorus, the Ivan Khurs, a vessel of the Black Sea Fleet providing security for the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines, was the target of a naval surface drone attack.
“Ukrainian terror is spreading with the help of Western weapons” lambasted the Russian Embassy in the United States on Twitter, stressing that the three maritime drones had been neutralized. On the images, we see an unmanned boat explode following a shot from the Russian frigate.
