A nurse strangled in Eure-et-Loir: her companion, in serious condition, is suspected

A pavilion of a village of 400 souls ready to celebrate Christmas. Rue des Bourdes in Conie-Molitard (Eure-et-Loir) is peaceful this Friday afternoon. Yet last night, it was in her house that Claire Leroy, 42, mother of two children, was found dead. She was allegedly strangled by her companion. “She would have died by strangulation, subject to the autopsy which will be carried out at the beginning of next week,” explains the public prosecutor, Frédéric Chevallier.

The tragedy occurred during the night from Thursday to Friday. It was the suspect’s brother who notified the emergency services. “I didn’t hear anything,” said a neighbor. In jogging pants and slippers, the caregiver remains in shock. “We only see this in the series. I opened my shutters this morning, my dogs were barking, there were police everywhere,” says the fifty-year-old. She remembers her neighbor as “a lovely worker. I blame myself because maybe I could have done something,” says the resident who rails against vehicles that pass slowly. “I’ve never seen so many cars here,” she says.

Already convicted of assault and battery on his partner

She confides that she “didn’t eat today and was afraid” that the victim’s companion would “get away with it”. He was hospitalized in serious condition and transferred to the Tours hospital (Indre-et-Loire). “The accused attempted suicide with a knife, a blow to his chest. His vital prognosis is in jeopardy”, lists the prosecutor, but “it is possible that it is a blow dealt by the victim”, tempers the magistrate.
