a network of criminals dismantled, 23 people placed in police custody

The vast operation aimed at fighting all forms of delinquency released its first figures this Friday.
Four days after the launch of “Storm 69”, which consists of strengthening the national gendarmerie to deal with all types of delinquency, a first assessment of the operation was issued this Friday afternoon. In total, 24 operations were carried out, 3,000 people were checked, 23 were placed in police custody, 150 traffic offenses were counted, 11 people in an irregular situation and 4 wanted people were arrested and a deal point was dismantled in Tarare, according to figures from the prefecture.
The latter particularly communicates the dismantling of a network of theft of automobile parts by an organized gang operated in the municipalities of Lyon and Brondillante, which resulted in the arrest of 13 people, all male, domiciled between Lyon and Vénissieux and elderly under 30 years old. Among them, seven are referred to the Lyon judicial court this Friday afternoon. The network was dismembering automobile parts from vehicles on public roads, around sixty of them were found by the gendarmes.
After combing five stations, two tolls (A6 and A89), the Saint-Genis-Laval metro station twice and around 600 common areas, the results of some 350 gendarmes mobilized every day (with a helicopter and dog resources ) seems quite weak. With the first example being the fight against drug trafficking, which has not been very successful. Despite 458 cellars and 116 common areas inspected in the Rhône, only a kilo of cannabis resin was found, as well as 4,500 packets of cigarettes and a bladed weapon.
Operation “Storm 69” will continue in the coming weeks in the department, the total duration of the actions not being determined. This Friday, the prefect of Rhône Fabienne Buccio renewed her confidence in the police: “We continue, we are present and we will still be there for as long as it takes. (…) Our police and gendarmerie do their job well.”commented the senior state official.
