“A circus clown knows how to handle a ball better” than Joe Biden

Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) criticized President Joe Biden’s handling of the Chinese spy balloon that recently flew over the country, telling Breitbart News “A circus clown knows how to handle a balloon better than the White House.”

LISTEN:

Breitbart News Saturday host Matthew Boyle opened the interview by asking Daines for his opinion on the Chinese spy balloon which spent several days flying across the continental United States before US authorities shot it down on Saturday.

Daines considers the Chinese spy balloon, and Biden’s response, a “complete embarrassment to the United States of America.”

Daines warned that as Biden “continues to show weakness” on the world stage, he will only embolden our opponents.

“There is a reason Vladimir Putin went to Ukraine. Because he knew Biden was weak. There’s a reason the Chinese keep testing the Taiwan Strait. Because they know Biden is weak,” Daines said. “There’s a reason they launched this spy balloon and just let it hover over America because they knew Biden was weak.”

The Montana senator pointed out that when the spy balloon flew over his home country, it “also hovered over our intercontinental ballistic missiles” stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base.

“Malmstrom Air Force Base is in Great Falls, Montana. It houses around 145 to 150 intercontinental ballistic missiles,” Daines explained. “Any of them have forces that are weapons of mass destruction with incredible precision. In fact, the motto of this Air Force base was “Scaring America’s Enemies Since 1962”.

Daines said that by allowing the spy balloon to hover over our military bases, Biden sent “a message to the Chinese that we are weak.”

“It was really more of a trial balloon, maybe they call it a spy balloon. The Chinese were testing our forge, and we failed the test,” Daines said.

Daines pointed to reports that the White House had been aware of the spy balloon for “several days” and suggested that Biden did not act because he “didn’t want to disrupt Secretary Blinken’s trip to Beijing.”

“So it’s outrageous. And I’ll tell you this, a circus clown knows how to handle a ball better than the White House,” Daines said.

After Boyle noted that the spy balloon could be seen as “a giant advertisement for the Chinese Communist Party in the skies over America”, Daines called it “as much a moment of propaganda for the Chinese as a spy mission”.

Daines refuted White House claims that they did not shoot down the spy balloon for fear of civilian casualties, as Montana is a “sparsely populated state” with “wide open skies country”.

Daines said, ‘Look, we gotta get the White House, maybe a few people from the Pentagon who have the stars, let’s get them to Montana, spend some time with the senator from Montana, let me show you this state. We are a sparsely populated state. It is a great country of open skies. We had a great shot to get that ball down and make sure it lands in a spot that would minimize any risk of injury. They know where the prevailing winds were, right now, the trajectory of something like that if it was heading towards the ground. But the greatest probability of hitting something might have been a cow, a prairie dog, or an antelope. And so I think that was just an excuse.

“They are more afraid of the Chinese. That was the problem,” Daines said. “They weren’t afraid to hit a prairie dog and an antelope or a cow because that’s the worst thing that could have happened.”

“If they had fired in Montana, and that’s where they should have fired because that’s when he first entered American airspace,” he said. he added. “That’s when it was above our missile silos. This is where you take it off.
