5-year-old child killed and two minors injured in drive-by shooting in Arizona
A 5-year-old child was killed and two other minors injured in a Friday night shooting in Tempe, Ariz., police said.
Tempe Police Department officers responded to a shooting in the West Broadway Road and South 52nd Street area around 11:45 p.m.
Officers discovered a suspicious vehicle opened fire on a car containing an adult and six minors traveling east on Broadway Road from 48th Street, police said. The suspect vehicle “immediately fled”.
Three minors injured from the victim’s vehicle were taken to a local hospital where the 5-year-old was pronounced dead.
No suspect is in custody and the motive is not known at this time.
“This is an ongoing investigation and there is nothing further to add at this time,” police said in a statement.
