24 Abandoned Dogs at Central Indiana Parks in Rushville, Greensburg
Central Indiana police are investigating after they say someone abandoned 24 dogs at two nearby county parks over the weekend.
The Rushville Animal Shelter reported that someone dumped nine dogs at its city dog park late Saturday night into Sunday morning. The shelter is in Rush County, about 45 miles southeast of Indianapolis,
Additionally, someone left 15 more dogs in neighboring Decatur County South, the shelter announced on Facebook.
A staff member at the shelter told USA TODAY on Wednesday that the dogs, whose exact breeds and ages were not immediately known, were left in parks near the Greensburg County seat.
“Most are estimated to be around 1 year old,” the spokesperson said. “
Anticipated adoption dates were also not known, the spokesperson said.
“We don’t currently have an estimated date when they will be available as most are scared and will need some socialising,” the staff member said. “We encourage everyone to watch our facebook and we will update the post as things change.
