Twelve people were shot dead in two separate shootings over the weekend, one on the east coast and the other on the west coast.
New York police say six people were shot at around 3 a.m. Sunday in the Pine Hills neighborhood of Albany.
Officers responded to clear a large crowd on Hudson Avenue between Quail and Ontario streets. Individuals in the crowd were fighting each other and began throwing glass bottles at officers who were trying to break up the fight and clear the street, according to a news release.
Officers heard gunshots fired on Hamilton Street near Ontario Street while clearing the group. When responding to the scene, officers found evidence consistent with gunshots and also discovered the following five victims who had suffered gunshot wounds to various parts of the body including the ankles, abdomen, shoulders and back. The age of the victims ranged from 19 to 29 years old.

All five victims were taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital. The 20- and 29-year-old men were last listed in critical condition. The other three victims were last listed in stable condition.
Later that morning, a 17-year-old girl who returned home to Schenectady contacted police to say she had been shot in the abdomen while on Hamilton Street in Albany.
She was also taken to Albany Medical Center with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.

An hour later, at 1 a.m. California time, a gunman opened fire on a crowd at a Los Angeles-area bar, injuring at least six people. The suspect is in custody, the Los Angeles Police Department told FOX 11 Los Angeles.
“Police say an argument inside the bar led to the suspect shooting into the crowd. Other patrons were able to hold the suspect up until police arrived,” the channel reported. television.

Three victims were found inside the bar. They were all taken to hospital in stable condition. Three other people who had been shot went alone to the hospital for treatment, police said.
The victims were four men and two women, all in their twenties.
A handgun was found at the scene, authorities said.
